WriteToLearn Named Finalist in Association of Educational Publishers
2007 Distinguished Achievement Awards
Pearson Knowledge Technologies' Web-Based Learning Tool Builds
Writing and Reading Comprehension Skills
BOULDER, Colo. - April 10, 2007
- Pearson Knowledge Technologies today announced that
WriteToLearn™, a Web-based learning tool that helps students
develop writing and reading comprehension skills, is a finalist in the
Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) 2007 Distinguished
Achievement Awards Program. WriteToLearn is recognized in the category
of "Curriculum: Reading and Language Arts, Web Sites, Grades
6-8."
The Distinguished Achievement Awards recognize the best educational
materials - such as books, periodicals, educational toys and software -
within subject categories and by audience. Products that are selected by
initial screening judges go to final judging, where a panel reviews and
certifies all winners and finalists. The 2007 AEP award winners will be
announced at the Awards Banquet and Gala on June 12 in Washington, D.C.
With WriteToLearn, students practice essay writing and summarization
skills, and their efforts are measured by the state-of-the-art Knowledge
Analysis Technologies™ (KAT) engine, which automatically evaluates
the meaning of text by examining whole passages, not just grammatical
correctness or spelling.
"As adoption of WriteToLearn continues to grow, educators tell us
and research demonstrates that students are using our product to make
significant gains in reading comprehension and writing skills,"
said Lynn Streeter, president, Pearson Knowledge Technologies.
"We are proud to have WriteToLearn recognized by the educational
publishing industry."
